Rocky Mountain to Flagg Ranch via Rock Springs, Wyoming.....17th-18th June...

Our drive from Rocky Mountain NP takes us down through Big Thompson Canyon  to Fort Collins.....this area was one of the many areas  of Colorado devastated in the floods last September., they have done sterling work repairing the road system but still lots to do.....many riverside homes where literally half hanging over The Big Thompson River...
Once we got clear of Fort Collins it was a very nice drive up to the I-80....the 200 miles to Rock Springs were through Wyoming cattle/ranch country and warnings all the way of high gusty winds !!! We had left Rocky Mountain in shorts and T-shirts and the farther west we went the colder it got and the wind got stronger....by the time we reached our campsite it was a cold rain....ummm this turned to sleet/snow during the evening...
Next morning and after checking with the office about road conditions to Jackson Hole we set off...there is snow on the hills and some of the landscape but the roads are dry.....this again was very much ranch land with small pretty communities along the way...lots of cattle of course but also white tailed deer and alpacas...hadn't realised these are popular over here too...
We then hit sleet/snow conditions....

By the time we get past Jackson and to our campsite at Flagg Ranch at the top end of The Grand Teton National Park the clouds are thinning....it was that sort of day our new home for 3  nights is awful, the worst campsite we have ever stayed at and that includes Biloxi......time to open the wine me thinks....
