Back At Camp Verde......5th to 8th June 2014

Welcome family and friends to our latest travel blog......
We are back at Camp Verde which is 2 hours north of Phoenix, Arizona at a campsite where we have stayed a couple of times before and as well as being one of our favourite campsites is perfect for stocking up on food and grog at the local supermarkets and is also close to a Chevrolet Dealership to get our truck serviced ready for this long road trip....
I have named this blog North By Northwest...The Big Loop (with acknowledgements to Alfred Hitchcock & Cary Grant) as we shall be heading north from here through New Mexico to Colorado, Montana, The Dakotas, up to Glacier National Park and The Canadian Border across to Washington State,  Oregon and back down to California before hopefully arriving back in Arizona mid September.....we shall of course be wary of cornfields and crop-dusters !!
Well I couldn't resist the temptation to start the blog with a water-tower which is conveniently a few paces away from our pitch at Distant Drums RV Park here in Camp Verde...
We arrived in Phoenix on 4th June to temperatures of 110F degrees which apparently is 10 degrees above the normal !!! It's a nice dry heat so does not feel as bad as it sounds although it took a day and night for the fridge/freezer to get down to the normal operating temperature and of course the A/C is working on overtime....the campsite is very quiet and almost empty, the snowbirds are long gone with just folks like us in transit......
Tomorrow we hit the road for Milan, Nr Grants, New Mexico which should be a straightforward 300 mile drive from here north on the I-17 to Flagstaff then east along the I-40 to Milan.....

  1. Hi Sue & Michael,
Good to see a water tower I almost forgot whet one looked like. Hope everything stowed and fridge /freezer all working at optimum performance. Have a good journey to Milan.
    Enjoy,

  2. Hi Ann & Dave
Many thanks, we are now back into the swing of things.....the fridge is making some noises that we haven't heard before so fingers crossed it's nothing drastic !!
    Sue :)
