Yosemite National Park......Saturday 30th August

View from the Rim overlook....this is an area of the big wild fire of last year......... lots of evidence of the fire on the drive to the valley....
At the overlook there are memorials to the firefighters who lost their lives fighting  previous fires...
Half Dome Rock...there is a very very strenuous hike to the top, takes about 8 hours, guess who's not doing it especially as the temperature in the park today is 97F !!!   On the 40 mile drive to the valley it was high 80's even at the elevation of 6192 ft.....
Beautiful views across the Yosemite Valley......the Valley is one of the main areas in Yosemite NP.......
Stunning rock formations.....

Our lunch salad spot...and added excitement when the rangers pulled over a car of visitors for speeding....

Lovely contrast of meadows, rocks and pine trees....
Another beautiful National Park.....we've had a good day but have not done the park justice it is just too hot and too crowded as it is a holiday weekend (Labor Day) but lovely that families and friends are enjoying the end of summer holiday and bad planning on our part...however it means we have something to come back to see hopefully on another trip.....we want to see the frazil ice a big incentive to return....
The Happy Brits are going to take a couple of days off before moving south to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks..
