Custer,SD to Medora,ND.....Friday 11th July....

Hitched up and leaving Custer, we had a great stay but now time for pastures new......
Today takes us back across to join the I-90 at  Rapid City.......
There was a very convenient rest area 15 miles after joining the I-90 (never pass  an opportunity for comfort/potty break)
which turned out to also be an information centre, we got some excellent advise re roadworks on the I-90 ahead but that we could avoid them and also cut some miles from our journey by taking an earlier exit and joining the 34 west to reach the 85 north...we had discounted this road as we were unsure if it was suitable for towing but was fine and ...yes....straight and quiet !!!
After a refuelling stop on the 85 at Belle Fourche, with a silent R, we headed north for 160 miles and yes  you guessed it.... straight....we love it although it was novel when there was a bend, we counted 5 !!
Pretty countryside, it is again grassland and agriculture, the farmers are out gathering in the hay....thousands of tidy round bales lying in the fields.....
We had passed a small community called Tilford (same name as a local village to us in UK) and also Pleasant Valley, as we don't know any songs about Tilford our song for today is Pleasant Valley Sunday, The Monkees....
And here we are at the North Dakota state line.....another sticker can go on our map !!!
From here still heading due north to the I-94 at Bellfield, passing White Butte (too far to the left to get a picture) which is the highest point in North Dakota at 3506 ft elevation....
Bellfield is just 5 miles east from our destination at Medora and on the edge of The Theodore Roosevelt National Park, another convenient rest stop and park information centre...this and next photo taken from the rest area.....we had a good chat with Dexter the park ranger on duty gathering the info ready for venturing into the park tomorrow....

Ready for the last 5 miles to our campsite...
Oops we had a few issues on arrival but the last campsite was always going to be a hard act to follow and most issues I am happy to report are now resolved....
