Fort Clatsop...Seaside.....Saturday 9th August...

First stop today is Fort Clatsop at The Lewis and Clark National Park just a couple of miles from our campsite and one of the newest national parks....Fort Clatsop is where Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery overwintered in 1805/06 at the end of their 4000-mile trek from St Louis...today the rangers talk is about the expedition and demonstration of loading and shooting a flintlock..........
The roof of this shelter has been made in the traditional way of  splitting logs lengthways for planks .....
And now to the beach and great fun driving across the sand dunes although we did have to visit the self service car wash on the way home....
Yorkieman enjoying being at the ocean.....
The sea mist or fog as the locals call it is fascinating, if only I had the photographic capabilities to make full use of the  effects but I did get some ok photos today and tomorrow....
This is farther down the coast at Seaside...today is the annual Volley Ball Championships.....this is just a small portion of the area set aside for the event we saw one "pitch" numbered 109.........it was lovely to spend time watching so many families and friends enjoying the beach and having exercise and fun....
Just a short way down the beach and hey it's empty so much space for all and  for the Holidaying Brits to have their lunch salad.......
The little town of Seaside and hey Bumper Cars....this is something we haven't seen in ages......no resisted the temptation to participate....now if it had been the 'big dipper' I would have :)
Oh my what a lovely surprise when we arrived back home our neighbour who had been fishing gave us a filleted salmon which Yorkieman cooked for our dinner...delicious and how fresher can you get......
