| Today's outing is to Cushman Lake which is at the bottom corner of Olympic National Park in Washington State, most of the lake shoreline is private residences although part of it is in The Cushman State Park a great place for families and fishermen to enjoy time on and in the water.... |

| At the end of the 8 mile dirt road is The Staircase Area of the National Park.....Staircase is now just an historic name for this area....in 1890 when Joseph O'Neil led his exploratory expedition across the southern stretch of the Olympic Mountains the rocky bluff in the Skokomish wilderness was a major obstacle. To get over it they built a cedar staircase.....this is no longer there but there are cascades on the river which have in recent years been given the name... |

| Our exercise for today is the 2 mile hike along the Staircase Rapids loop trail....mainly on the flat although there is a 200 ft elevation gain and of course roots and rocks to negotiate....this is a rain forest area, the tall/large Douglas Firs are covered in Spanish type moss..... |

| It's a motel and campsite...they have taken great care to landscape the grounds and make it look very inviting... I couldn't believe how fast the internet was here and did a speed test which came out at 28.64 WOW.... We think our 6.5 back in UK is good... |

| The park is across the road from their private dock...lots of "fishermen" stay in this area to catch crab, shrimp and oyster.... As much as we love visiting different States we do love to be near the sea.... |

| You might recall when we were in Custer, SD we bought a sign for hanging on our home on wheels when we are parked... Yorkieman is trying to devise a way to attach 2 of our small Union Jacks to the the sign.... |

| You may also recall the saga of the broken day/night blinds and that we have been unable to get them repaired..... We have a temporary stop gap.....neat new curtains....ok it's not going to make 25 Beautiful Homes but they work ... After all of this DIY and fixing a problem with the dinning table Yorkieman had a couple of beers with lunch and then a nice sleep in his new outdoor lounger....an early birthday present..... Tomorrow we move on north to Port Angeles to visit Olympic National Park.... All being well more posts soon..... The Happy Campers.... |

Moss covered trees look good. Glad to see that you are still taking your exercise with the walking.

Even before your comment I was struck by the difference in thew photos since you got near the sea, you are the photographer Sue but I guess it must have something to do with the light. It seems ages since you left UK, and clearly you arent missing it as you dont refer to "Old Blighty" and I can understand why. What a fabulous walkabout you are having, much envy from here! Well hello, good hear from you.......we have heard that "Old Blighty" is having a great summer and we hope you are able to make the most of it....we are having an amazing time over here so much to see and so diverse...have to say as much as we love the land locked states it is lovely to be by the sea, there's something special about it...
