Highway 101...Astoria to Tillamook....Monday 11th August....

Todays outing takes us farther south on the 101 through Seaside and stopping at scenic viewpoints and pull-outs, there are always good information boards about the various areas, animals, birds etc.....
Yorkieman enjoying coffee and cookies on the beach at Tolovana Beach State Park off of Coastal Highway 101.......
This is the same beach same spot but looking the other way....fascinating sea mist/fog........
Haystack Rock....behind this but lost in the sea mist is Tillamook Head and Lighthouse.....the lighthouse is known locally as Terrible Tilly, not because of shipwrecks but because of the hardships and struggles it took to build it....

Possibly a poignant rose that has washed up on this beach.......
On the coastal parts of highway 101 that we have so far travelled there are Tsunami Evacuation routes and warnings......we hadn't realised this was a risk area      another learning curve....check out the link:

This made us smile......but tomorrow when we drive past on route to our next campsite farther down highway 101 there was actually a boat moored here.....basically a different type of "dunny"
From the "scenic" viewpoint we got as far as Tillamook before turning back for home.....Tillamook was interesting mainly huge cheese factories and more dairy cows than you can "shake a stick at"...have to say also quite smelly !!!
Next instalments will come from Lincoln City........
Over and out for now

  2. We thought when it came to Guinness every afternoon was a Friday or TGIF....they wouldn't let himself on the bumper cars now that he's an OAP...(joke)
We are now in Lincoln City and just heading out to see some more coast, that's if the mist has cleared, it's quite fascinating and comes and goes all day....
Cheers to you both and have a great weekend...
    M & S :)
