Stunning Hurricane Ridge Area, Olympic National Park, WA.....Thursday 7th August 2014...

Another beautiful day after the early morning sea mist/fog...a 17 mile scenic drive up from Port Angeles brings you to Hurricane Ridge Visitors Centre......this is one of the views from the visitors centre car park.....
This little Bambi and his sibling were quite close to the parking area, in fact we had already seen quite a few deer on the drive up and do see many more during the course of the day....
Our first hike of the day is the 2 mile loop High Ridge Trail to Sunrise Point, elevation gain 220 ft and returning via the Cirque Rim Trial...
Although a bit misty in this photo we had good views down to Port Angeles, The Strait of Juan de Fuca and Victoria on Vancouver Island.....
The spur trail up to Sunrise Point....
Stunning views and scenery and surprisingly very warm to hot.....
Our next hike is the 4 mile round trip to the top of Hurricane Hill....elevation gain of 700 ft......
We thought this was the perfect Christmas tree !!!
The Wandering Brits taken from the opposite direction from the photo above......
Looking back down the trail.....almost at the top now....
Hey we made it.....fabulous panoramic views from up here and time for our lunch sandwich.....we're feeling very pleased with ourselves....
Griff Peak recovering from the 2003 fire.....
Snow still in places up here.....the trail along the top should one wish to hike it goes back to the Elwha River....only 6 miles but a drop of 5250 ft......
We've had another fantastic day out on the trails.....we've enjoyed the Port Angeles area and good to catch up with Autumn and Chris but now time to move on...tomorrow we hitch up again for the drive south to Astoria, Oregon....
Further news soon from The Happy Campers.....

  1. Hi Sue & Michael,
All looks great. Glad that Michael had a good birthday. The walk around the golf course when you get home will be easy after all your hikes, very impressed.
Oh well just off to work.A distant memory for yourselves and Ann.
    Take care.
